SP19-27 THE EVOLUTION OF JAZZ, PART II

Wednesdays: 11 am-12:20 pm
8 Sessions: Mar. 13-May 1
TEMPLE BETH SHOLOM
Martin Adams

Jazz was America’s national popular music from the 1920s to the mid-1940s. In fact, the decades of the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s are known respectively as the “Jazz Age” and the “Swing Era.” The roots of both modern jazz and rock sprang from this era as well. We will follow the evolution of jazz from the “speakeasies” to the concert halls, through recordings and videos of the musical geniuses that led the way.
Silver Member: $95; Gold Member: $85.50.
