SP19-48 PLAYREADING: THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE

Thursdays: 1-2:20 pm
8 Sessions: Mar. 14-May 2
TEMPLE BETH SHOLOM
Ronni Miller

In this course, we will read and endeavor to understand the universality of the human experience through the eyes of the playwright. We will read several one-act plays by playwrights who also use their own life experiences as material for their work in the collection, “Plays in One Act,” edited by Daniel Halpern. The first one-act play to be read is Wendy Wasserstein’s “Tender Offer.” Other plays from the collection will be assigned in class. Students will participate by reading parts as a way to further understand the techniques of characterization, plot theme, and point of view. The text is available online or from local bookstores.
Spring 8 Sessions: Silver Member: $95; Gold Member: $85.50.

NOTE: This course is also offered Summer quarter as
