SP19-49 THE ODYSSEY—A JOURNEY INTO AND BEYOND SELF, PART 2

Thursdays: 1-2:20 pm
8 Sessions: Mar. 14-May 2
TEMPLE BETH SHOLOM
Barbara Shocket and David Eisner

Composed over 2,500 years ago, and still relevant, “The Odyssey” by Homer tells a deeply personal story of challenge, love, battle, and survival under the most exacting of circumstances. We invite you to continue reading with us about Odysseus’ profound journey, his relationship with the gods, the fates that stalked him, and his battles with powerful adversaries and alien creatures. We will interactively read the second half of this classic, unraveling its modern social and psychological symbolism as we follow Odysseus on his arduous journey home. Robert Fitzgerald’s clear and empathic translation is our text. Although we are reading the second half of “The Odyssey,” new students are welcome.
Silver Member: $95; Gold Member: $85.50.
