SU18-26 MASTERPIECES OF WORLD CINEMA: PAST AND PRESENT

This class will view eight masterpieces that have captivated critics and spectators alike since their release. We will begin with Citizen Kane, which has topped the list since 1941, followed by works from Ozu, Hitchcock, and Tarkovsky. Next, we will examine 21st century works by S. Coppola, Linklater, Wong Kar-wai, and Ang Lee. Students will be asked to view each weekly film in advance to facilitate classroom discussion and analysis in a roundtable format. Each class will also include scene analysis of world directors not on our list, such as S. Ray, Godard, Campion, and Spielberg.
Course Fee: $95; Member Fee: $85.50.
