SU19-SCF-62 ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: GOOD OR EVIL (Summer)

Tuesday: 1-4 pm
1 Session: May 21
OLLI EAST (STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA, LAKEWOOD RANCH)
Alex Beavers

Headlines are barraging us with warnings that artificial intelligence (e.g., robotics, automation, data analytics, deep learning, etc.) might just be evil because it will boost productivity at the expense of fewer jobs and a diminished role for human labor. Despite these alarms, there is much that dispels the evil myth of technology and that builds a hopeful case for a promising future. This seminar will cover topics including:
(1) what is state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence
(2) where is it likely going
(3) what are the economic and technical realities of it
(4) why we need more of it not less.
Silver Member: $55; Gold Member: $49.
