TEMPLE BETH SHOLOM

At the dawn of the 20th century, the musical cultures of two continents collided and fused on a third continent (North America), becoming “jazz.” We will explore the roots of America’s indigenous art form from its genesis to flowering into 1920s “Jazz Era,” and the 1930s “Swing Era.” We will use the recordings and live film footage to hear and enjoy the music of the men and women who created this unique American art form and include some backward looking perspective from where jazz has evolved to today.
Silver Member: $90; Gold Member: $81.
