Join one of our instructors, Gus Mollasis, as he hosts this documentary series on WEDU, Thursday at 8:30. The nine episodes of the second season highlight interesting people, places and history from all over Florida. Episodes have included a look at Carl “Moose” Muscarello, a native of Ft Lauderdale and the sailor who instigated the kiss seen around the world on V-J Day 1945. Another episode looks at Siesta Key Beach and the mystical qualities that many claim are part of its charm. Yet another episode delves into the history and personality of Cortez, the oldest surviving fishing village in our state.
Gus is co-producer as well as host. Prior to this show his credits include an interview series, “At The Movies,” during which he interviewed such notables as Billy Crystal, Ed Norton, and Charlize Theron, among others. Co-producing with him is Mark Reese from NPR’s Morning Edition who was the creator of the ESPN mini-series “The Brooklyn Dodgers: The Original American’s Team” and the documentary “Boys in Winter.”
This week’s episode, titled “Embracing Our Differences,” focuses on the grandson of Connie Mack and his efforts to work with children to eradicate prejudice. The series continues once a month into July in that same time slot on the second Thursday of each month.
