    Robert Essner is the retired Chairman of the Board and CEO of Wyeth (now Pfizer). A graduate of Miami University (Oxford, OH), he received a master’s degree from the University of Chicago. During his tenure in the pharmaceutical industry, he served in various capacities, from president of Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories to chairman of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School and Chairman of Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota.

    Osher Lifetime Learning Institute at Ringling College (OLLI) is a division of Ringling College of Art and Design. OLLI operates year-round and is supported through student registrations and private contributions. OLLI courses are non-credit and primarily based on a liberal arts curriculum. There are no grades and no tests; courses are offered purely for the joy of learning. Students may attend classes at any of our locations, participate in Academy Talks, Einstein’s Circle discussion groups, and attend lectures and special events. Tuition varies depending upon course length.
