Stuart McDougal, received his bachelor’s degree from Haverford College (PA) and his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. For many years he chaired the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Michigan, where he also taught English literature and film. He has published five books on literary and cinematic topics.

Osher Lifetime Learning Institute at Ringling College (OLLI) is a division of Ringling College of Art and Design. OLLI operates year-round and is supported through student registrations and private contributions. OLLI courses are non-credit and primarily based on a liberal arts curriculum. There are no grades and no tests; courses are offered purely for the joy of learning. Students may attend classes at any of our locations, participate in Academy Talks, Einstein’s Circle discussion groups, and attend lectures and special events. Tuition varies depending upon course length.
